Minuteman III Test Launch

Ther was much hang wringing on different internet forums after the fact the USAF test launched a Minuteman III ICBM early Monday. The hand wringers seem to forget that this is a routine test as we have done for years. The Air Force will pick a bird and random from one of the Strategic Missile Wings, transport it to Vandenberg AFB, CA and fire it to the Kwajalein Test Range.

Back in the day when we still tested MIRVS it made for some spectacular pictures as the reentry vehicles streaked in.

Here is the launch from Vandenberg.
